Gordon Hillock

Sales Executive

Gordon Hillock, Kiawah’s top selling agent of 2007, has been a resident of Kiawah since 1979. A native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Gordon received an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications along with a second degree in Education from Wayne State University. After graduation, he moved south to Vero Beach, Florida to work in the private, gated community of Johns’ Island, where he was first introduced to a new lifestyle uniquely offered in planned community developments. His new construction and property management responsibilities at Johns’ Island enabled him to begin to learn about the elements that make for good, community development. At this same time, Gordon was also given a special opportunity to work directly with Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus building a golf course for Johns Island.

Several years later, this experience led him to yet another opportunity, working with Ron Kirby and Gary Player designing and building a golf course for the Sea Pines Company on the southeast coast of Puerto Rico. Shortly thereafter, Gordon was invited to join the newly formed sales staff on Kiawah Island in 1979. Ever since then, he has been able to apply his construction, communication, and teaching skills to help families and individuals discover the many facets of Kiawah ownership. Gordon says, "Selling Kiawah Island has always been a special treat for me because of the opportunity to represent such a wonderful community to people from all over the world."

Gordon and Jeannie, his wife of 20+ years and a Charleston native, along with their three children, have all enjoyed living the Kiawah dream since 1979. Gordon enjoys wilderness canoeing, cooking special meals together with good friends and family, sharing the family summer camp in Traverse City, Michigan, fishing, and reading. He especially enjoys golfing when not in the office. In recent years, Gordon and Jeannie have helped sponsor and build four new Habitat homes for the deserving and needy families just outside Kiawah. Gordon has served as a board member, as well as a member of the fund-raising committee with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. And, he is particularly proud of the fact that SIHH was just recently voted best HH affiliate worldwide for the second year in a row!
